GPs

  • Dr. Rebekah Doran

    Rebekah was born in the UK and graduated in 1998 from the University of Wales College of Medicine in Cardiff. She worked in various different departments in the UK and trained in paediatrics prior to becoming a general practitioner in 2005. She moved to New Zealand in 2006 with her husband and has been living and working in Raglan until moving to Hamilton in 2016. She has 3 gorgeous children and enjoys spending time with her family.

    Rebekah’s areas of interest are general family medicine, children’s health and women’s health.

    Rebekah also works as medical director across the 13 practices owned by Primary Health Care Ltd and is involved with the education and supervision of trainee doctors in the practice.

  • Dr. Fraser Hamilton

    MBChB, FRNZCGP

    Fraser graduated from Auckland Medical School in 1995 and worked in various hospitals in New Zealand and the United Kingdom before completing General Practice training in 2004. He also works as a medical officer at the Waikato Cardiology Clinical Trials unit at Waikato Hospital and since 2014 has also been the GP Champion for the Heart Foundation.

    Fraser is married with two children.

  • Dr. Vidya Jandhyala

    Vidya graduated from Medical School in 2003 in India and worked in the United Kingdom and Waikato Hospital in New Zealand before completing General Practice training in 2013.

    She worked as a GP in Hawke’s Bay for a few years and has been working at Northcare Pukete since February 2019. Vidya is married with two children.

Nurses

  • Vesna Zivanovic

    Vesna immigrated to NZ in 1996. She qualified overseas and in NZ. She joined NorthCare in 2010 and has been working as the Nurse Lead across the 3 sites since 2018. Vesna is very passionate about nursing and enjoys working with patients in their health journey. She supports the nurses and the medical care assistants in providing the best possible care available.

    Vesna enjoys working in all aspects of Primary Health Care. She has a teenage son, loves reading, walking and cycling.

  • Carla Du Plessis

    Carla is South African. She moved to NZ in 2008. She has completed her nursing training in 2013. She worked at Braemar Hospital for 4 years before deciding to join the NorthCare team in 2017.

    Carla enjoys the diverse aspects of primary care. In her spare time she loves reading and spending time with her family.

  • Stephanie Steffert

    Completed training in 2017 , loves all aspects of Primary Care but in particular Women's Health and Health planning. Married and mum of 2 lovely children, hobbies are spending time with family, travel , movies and reading.

  • Penny Clark

    Reg Pharm NZ (prescriber). PGDipClinPharm (dist), PGCertPharmPres, MNZCP, MPSNZ, MCAPA, MNZHPA

    Penny has been the clinical pharmacist at NorthCare since 2011 and enjoys working as a member of the general practice team. Before coming to NorthCare Penny worked in several hospitals, community pharmacies and did medication reviews while she and her husband raised their 3 children. Penny is now a pharmacist prescriber after completing postgraduate clinical studies through Otago and Auckland Universities.

    Penny is available within the practices to see patients. She enjoys all aspects of general medicine and has special interests in the areas of optimising medicines for older persons and patients with multiple or complex medicines, diabetes and cardiovascular conditions.

  • Dr. Michael Oehley

    Dr Michael Oehley is delighted to join the team in 2020 as the new Clinical Lead GP at Northcare Grandview. He brings plenty of years’ experience in general practice and is passionate about preventative health, care of families and children, travel medicine, acute care and medical education. He is the Chief Examiner for the Royal N.Z. College of GPs and a published author of fiction. Michael’s personal interests include travel, writing, running, tennis and family time with his wife and two children.

  • Dr. John Tai

    MBChB, MRCGP (UK), FRNZCGP

    Having finished school in Hong Kong, John went on to study medicine in the United Kingdom and qualified in 1988. Further training lead him to become a qualified general practitioner in 1995 and he then joined the Royal College of General Practitioners as a member in 1996. Since 1997 he has been working full time in Hamilton.

    John enjoys all aspects of General Practice.

  • Dr. Mohammed Tariq Ali

    Dr Mohammed Tariq Ali moved to NZ in 2010. He graduated from India and then worked in the Middle East for 5 years. He worked as an Intensivist in ICU and ED before moving to New Zealand and passing the NZREX.

    He has worked at Taranaki Hospital as an ED registrar before moving to Hamilton to work as a GP. He has a certification in Emergency Medicine.

    Tariq’s area of interest are General practice, Urgent care and Travel medicine. He is a keen gardener and loves to cook as well. He enjoys spending his leisure time with his wife.

  • Dr. John Morgan

    MBChB, BSc (mid sci), MRCP (UK), MRCGP (UK), FRNZCGP

    John is of Welsh heritage but grew up in Cambridge UK. He trained at St Andrews in Scotland and Manchester before moving to New Zealand. He is married to Jane who is a doctor at Waikato Hospital, and the mother of his two sons James and Eddie.

    John’s interests include cardiology and general medicine along with fishing, diving and hunting.

  • Dr. Madiha Raza

    MBBS, MRNZCGP, FRNZCGP, PGCertWH

    Madiha was born in Pakistan and completed her basic qualifications in Pakistan in 2003. She moved to NZ in 2006 with her husband and acquired her post graduate qualifications here in NZ. Madiha is a mother of 3 children. She loves to travel and cook. Her main areas of interest are women's and children health.

  • Dr. Thomas Gudsell

    MBChB, DipPaed

    Tom was born in Timaru and grew up in Timaru and Christchurch. He studied at the University of Otago before moving to Hamilton. He has worked at Waikato Hospital before entering General Practice training. He lives with his partner Nina who is a doctor at Waikato Hospital.

    Tom is interested in all areas of family medicine, particularly child health. In his spare time, he enjoys sports, being active, listening to music and playing guitar.

  • Dr. Hashira Cooray

    BSc, BHB, MBchB, FRNZCGP, PGCertWHlth

    Hashira was born and bred in Hawkes Bay and is of Sri Lankan heritage. After completing her degree in psychology at Otago University she graduated from Auckland Medical School in 2006. Since then she has worked in various specialties in Auckland and Waikato hospitals before joining Northcare in 2011.

    She is married with two children and enjoys singing, travelling and spending time with her family and friends. She enjoys all aspects of general practice and is currently working towards her diploma in travel medicine.

  • Judy Twomey

    Judy trained at Middlemore Hospital in the 70s and moved to Hamilton in 1983 to work at Waikato Hospital doing at 6 month Paediatric course. After travelling overseas and working in Paediatrics for over 5 years she started working in Primary care in a one doctor practice which has evolved into the 3 clinic NorthCare family.

    Judy enjoys all aspects of Primary Care especially Diabetes and preventative care. She enjoys travel, walking, and visiting her nephews and nieces
